A Massachusetts woman is dead after the moped she was operating collided with a vehicle in Falmouth, according to police.

Falmouth police said the crash involving an SUV and a moped-style scooter happened at about 4:05 p.m. Wednesday on the West Falmouth Highway, also known as Route 28A, near the intersection of Chapoquoit Road.

The operator of the moped, Christina Laurie, 80, of Falmouth, suffered fatal injuries in the crash, police said.

Police said driver of the SUV remained on scene and is cooperating fully with the investigation.

The crash is being investigated by Falmouth police and the Massachusetts State Police collision analysis & reconstruction section.
