Warzone’s new Ghosts of Verdansk mode has a new Fear Meter mechanic, find out what it is, what fills it up, and challenge and rewards info.

As part of the new Ghosts of Verdansk LTM, players have to combat the new Fear Meter mechanic. Our easy guide will run you through it, instructing you on what it is, what contributes to the meter, challenges linked to it, and possible rewards.

Warzone’s Fear Meter is an innovative gameplay element for the franchise that drastically changes the way players need to approach combat. As your Fear Meter rises, hallucinations become a distinct possibility, and they can be damaging in a 1v1.

To ensure that you are adequately prepared and informed about the Fear Meter, our detailed Warzone guide will walk you through The Haunting event’s scary, new addition.

Quite simply, the more you allow the Fear Meter gauge to fill up, the chances of encountering one of the game mode’s hallucinations drastically increase.

You should be able to see the meter in the bottom left-hand corner next to where information about your Armor Plates would be. It’s a skull surrounded by a bar that separates into three different colors.

Several actions will make the counter slowly tick up and reaching different marks will trigger a hallucination in Ghosts of Verdansk.

Your actions will have a positive or negative effect on the Fear Meter, which will determine how quickly or slowly it will increase and decrease.

Here are all the different ways to increase the Fear Meter in Warzone:

This is how you can decrease the Fear Meter:

The Haunting event has some specific challenges tied directly to the Fear Meter, and they contribute to the nine overall challenges in the event.

Here is how to complete the two Fear Meter challenges.

Scattered around Verdansk are blue diamonds with shield symbols in the middle of them. Simply find these, step inside three different ones for a few seconds and you should complete this challenge.

This one is a lot easier and will probably come naturally if you play a few games of Ghosts of Verdansk. Simply perform all the actions that cause your Fear Meter to increase and sit back as jumpscares overcome your screen three times.

If you’re going to subject yourself to some difficult positions that require you to go out of your way and risk your position in a match, then you should be duly rewarded.

For completing the Sacred Ground challenge, you’ll earn an “Underworld calling card” and if you do the 3 Hallucinations, then this will get you a “Tentacle weapon charm.”

These are two of nine challenges, and if you can do all 9 for Cold War or Warzone, then you’ll get the LAPA SMG.

We have now covered all the major aspects of Warzone’s new Fear Meter mechanic, and it’s up to you to try and avoid nasty jumpscares – unless you want them of course.
